What is new and so special?
Induction heating is not a new technology. Neither is electric resistance heating.
To explain it as simple as possible how HARDGRID works, you could say it is the beautiful combination of an old stove with electric resistance heating and a modern stove with induction heating.
A sheet metal piece is connected to the equipment and equal parts of electric current and magnetic flux, both generated by the induction equipment, heats the sheet metal part evenly in a very short time. The technology also enables partial heating by manipulation of the magnetic flux, which allows heating in zones, lines or patterns if it is positive for the intended application.
How does it work?
The current generated by our power supply induces a magnetic field that generates both the eddy currents and a current in the outer loop. The current in the outer loop is what creates the electric resistance heating and the magnetic field generates the eddy currents in the work piece.
However, we utilize a clever trick and manipulate the magnetic field around the Active intermediate (Patented). This gives us unique control over the magnetic flux and is why we can achieve a fast and uniform heating or selective heating when desired.
There are of course many more components in the system which are vital when designing an efficient induction system. Induction coil, clamping, shielding and power supply has to be tailored for the specific use case.

What can be heated?
In tests and projects the Hardgrid technology has successfully heated sheet metal from steel, stainless steel and aluminum with various sizes and thickness. The technology is scalable and to a certain degree flexible between size, thickness and material in the same equipment. Temperature and heating time is regulated with frequency, effect and time. We have tested heating of stainless steel to 1200 degrees celsius successfully.
